Garon Park to Host New Padel4all Centre
10 June 2021
Garon Park, Southend’s very own Sports Village, was confirmed as the venue for our 2nd Padel4all centre when the Council’s planning committee approved plans to convert two disused tennis courts in to the new 4-court padel centre last month.
The land, which is owned by the Norman Garon Trust, already plays host to a multitude of sports including cricket, golf, and football as well as the well-known Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre. Phillip Tolhurst Chair of the charitable trust said;
“We are delighted to be including padel as part of our sports offer at Garon Park. The plans for the new centre are very impressive and we look forward to welcoming the Padel4all team and their community when it opens later in the year. I am sure it will be a huge success”
Essex already has several padel venues but the new Padel4all centre, which will have three courts covered by a specially designed fabric canopy, will be the first in South Essex. Padel4all Founder, Chris Wilkinson, himself a local Essex resident commented;
“We are delighted to be bringing Padel to Garon Park in Southend. The Town has a well-established and successful rackets heritage, and Garon Park provides us with the perfect location to become part of that history. We will be engaging with local community groups and schools to provide inclusive opportunities for more people to play this highly entertaining sport.”
Progress of the development will be shared on our website and social media channels. If you haven’t already done so, then also sign up to our newsletter for all the latest Padel4all updates.
