Wiltshire Tennis & WASP Delighted to Welcome Padel4all

19 June 2021

As news of the plans for the new Padel4all centre at Basset Down began to spread, local community groups and sport organisations have responded positively to the announcement.

Padel4all have committed to working closely with the local Active Partnership WASP in promoting the sport to a new audience across Swindon and Wiltshire. WASP CEO Steve Boocock said;

We are always pleased to see new sports facilities being developed and being one of the first Padel Centres in the UK it offers a great opportunity for people in Wiltshire to try this easy to play, fun and sociable sport. A priority for us is that access to sport is available to all and that those involved in its delivery are aware of the barriers some people face. It’s clear that the Padel Centre understands these issues and will be creating opportunities that are genuinely inclusive.”

The news that the County is set to have its first padel courts has also been warmly welcomed by the local tennis community. There is currently just a sprinkling of courts in the South West, spread across neighbouring Gloucestershire, Hampshire and Dorset. Phil Smith Chairman of Wiltshire Tennis added;

Wiltshire Tennis are delighted that Padel4all have chosen Basset Down as the location for one of their first padel centres and we wish them every success with it. Padel tennis is a great game for all ages, and we are looking forward to working with them to encourage as many people as possible to play the game. Come and try it!”

Tennis clubs across Wiltshire will all receive an invitation to attend a free coach-led padel intro session when the centre launches at the end of Summer. For more details of how your club can register please contact the Wiltshire Tennis administrator Kath Brooks Kathryn.Brooks@wiltshiretennis.org.uk or email us at bassetdown@padel4all.com.
