Padel4all Partner with Active Essex

21 June 2021

Padel4all have committed to working closely with local sports partnership ‘Active Essex’ in delivering padel to a new audience.  The Garon Park Padel4all centre in Southend is expected to be open by the end of summer and will provide a great venue for local community groups and schools to experience the game.

The recently formed partnership centres around a delivery plan which will see padel delivered to a number of local primary and secondary schools as part of the PE curriculum.  The 6-week in-school programme teaches children basic movement and racket skills through playing padel.

The programme also offers children the opportunity to extend their padel activity outside of school with follow-on sessions delivered at the Garon Park centre.  Dax Mellor, Ops Director for Padel4all commented;

“It’s been great fun working with Active Essex in putting together the Padel4all Schools programme and we’ve had some really positive feedback from those schools who have been approached.  Offering a new sport which is fun, easy to play and fully inclusive makes for a wider and more diverse school sports offer, which ultimately will encourage more children to become more active”

Jason Fergus, Head of Active Essex added to this,

“As the Active Partnership for Greater Essex, we know that an active lifestyle creates huge benefits for the health and well-being of individuals and families, as well as making local communities more vibrant, connected, and resilient. The new padel tennis facilities and their outreach initiatives such as the schools programme will hopefully encourage more people from all backgrounds to give it a go”
