Groundworks Phase Complete
18 October 2021
We reached a major construction milestone last week as our groundworks schedule finally came to an end.
The last piece of work saw several tons of concrete being poured to form the ring beam base for the canopy and the courts. Prior to this our electrical contractors had threaded 570m of armoured cabling into sub ground level ducting. Fibre optic cables are also being laid to enable all our online court bookings to be automated with access control and lighting. CCTV and court video systems will also be commissioned.
With the foundations set, the main contractor has wasted no time in starting to assemble the framework for the canopy. As the impressive aluminium structure started to go up it really provides a scale of what will be created when it is finished.
Chris Wilkinson, Padel4all Founder, commented:
“We are confident that we will bring something special to Southend. We’ve had lots of interest from across the local community and everyone appears very excited to be welcoming padel to the town.
It’s been a while since we first held those initial conversations about introducing padel to Garon Park and I’m delighted that we are nearly there in delivering what we set out to.”
