Siteworks Start at Southend
25 July 2021
Main contractors Padel Tech are now finally on site at Garon Park. The start of groundworks had been delayed slightly by the signing of legal documents.
The padel centre will be located on two outdoor tennis courts adjacent to the entrance of the Southend Leisure & Tennis Centre. The site area has now been cleared and whilst the foundation works for the canopy and courts are ongoing sub-contractors have started on the external works which include replacing the perimeter fencing and establishing a new north entrance.
Padel4all Executive Director Charlie Whelpton said;
“We’ve had our contractors ready to go for some time and it’s great to finally get underway. We weren’t able to finalise our lease arrangements until planning had been approved and frustratingly these things can take a little longer to complete when there are several parties involved. We have the perfect location within the Garon Park complex and it will be worth the wait when we eventually open in the Autumn”.
The build is Padel Tech’s largest construction project to date. Guy Heathcote, Commercial Director, commented;
“We are pleased to be working with Padel4all on their first two projects. The Garon Park scheme includes our AFP panoramic show-court which we are excited to be installing. The court offers spectators perfect visibility and players the ultimate playing experience. It will make a fantastic showcase for padel”.
The Garon Park centre is set to open early October and includes three covered courts as well as the open-air show court.
